A smoking hot proposition
On the first day of creation, Grillgott created the ultimate barbecue experience. The second to the seventh? Taste testing, of course. From quality grills, outdoor kitchens, coolers and smokers to meat, seafood, veggie alternatives, spices and sauces, Grillgott’s dedicated 750 m2 premises is the home of all things cooked over a live fire – both from its own brand and external providers. Alongside its extensive product portfolio, the company’s close-knit team puts on barbecue courses and regularly publishes culinary content online. The highlight on its calendar is the grilling season opening event, which attracts 5000+ visitors per year.
Raking the competition over the coals
When it comes to visuals, the other players in the barbecue scene aren’t exactly setting the world alight: it’s all black, black and more black. Deities don’t think that way, which is why Grillgott wanted a relatable, peppy corporate design language to communicate the message: we do things differently, we do them well, and we always pay attention to the details.
A delicious design that cuts the mustard
We kicked things off with a series of workshops to find out how the company wanted to position its brand and present itself to the world – not least in its web shop. The concept of Grillgott is a tantalising one: they want to give customers every opportunity to embark on their own authentic yet playful culinary journey from the first step to the last – with only quality products to choose from.
In short, the person tending the flames becomes their own grill god! From here, we created a complete set of visuals that eschewed tired cliches in favour of a dynamic, elegant logo derived from the initials GG to look both like cooking utensils and a star as a seal of quality. And that’s not all: look closely and you can see all the letters in the company name in the logo – a nod to Grillgott role as the divine creator of a world of barbecue.
For the online shop, we combined product photos with modern mascot-like illustrations to offer visitors a design experience as varied as the company’s product range. We also underlined the spirited nature of grilling with a series of headlines that straddle the line between smart and humorous. The colour palette is simple, yet effective, with tones taken from the culinary arena (leafy green, crispy brown and a soft red reminiscent of medium rare). The result is an online barbecue portal that is fresh, inviting and customer-friendly all the way.
We thoroughly enjoyed ‘meating’ the minds behind Grillgott and cooking up a mouthwatering corporate design with them. Now, who’s for another burger?
